Changing the world and improving lives one wash at a time

Story by Kelly Davies & Mandy Powell – Co-Founders of the Goodwash Company

We first became supporters of Llamau back in July 2018 after we were approached by Llamau’s Deputy CEO, Sam Austin and she completely won over our hearts and minds through the amazing stories she told us about the charity’s work.

Everything she told us felt so powerful and so naturally linked to Goodwash’s values. We launched our partnership on World Homelessness Day 2018 and then our first official way of supporting Llamau was that Christmas. We launched a Christmas appeal whereby ‘washes’ helped to provide safe nights for young homeless people. We were so happy to be able to donate 100% of our website profits to Llamau that Christmas.

Our mission is to change the world one wash at a time and we do this by selling luxury wash products to fund projects that improve the lives of animals and people.

We recognised from day one that homelessness is a major issue in Wales. We really believe in the work Llamau does to both prevent homelessness and support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We thought our funding could make a difference and we had faith our customers would feel the same. Our customers have made us proud with the ways they’ve helped support Llamau. The Hang Fire girls, Sam and Shauna, recently did a ‘cook off’ for the annual Sleep Out, which this year of course was the first virtual version but still a fantastic event backed by many of our customers.

We have so many good memories thanks to working with Llamau so far. A personal favourite was a recent bath bomb making workshop we held for young people living independently. All the bits and pieces needed to make a bath bomb were posted out to the young people so they could enjoy being fully immersed in the workshop. Not only did they learn new skills that day but they also benefited from socialising with others online, growing their social networks. It really was a great day.

Another favourite was the ‘In Good Company’ event we hosted last September.

Events like these are part of the Goodwash lifestyle philosophy. We choose to work and collaborate with good people and great Welsh brands. When a young woman supported by Llamau spoke at the event you could have heard a pin drop. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of those in attendance and the majority of funds raised were donated to Llamau.

We support Llamau and the people they help because we too can imagine a world without homelessness and we feel determined to play our role in helping them achieve it. Just like the inspiring Jane Goodall believed, we also believe that what you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.
